3 Tips for Giving Your Makeup Brushes the Best Spring Clean

It's spring, which means it is time for your annual spring clean. If you're like many of us, you probably spend a good amount of time perfecting your makeup routine, carefully selecting the right products, and honing your techniques. But there's one crucial aspect of makeup application that often gets overlooked: cleaning your brushes. Surprisingly, studies show that nearly half of us admit to never cleaning our makeup brushes, which can lead to a host of skincare woes and compromised makeup application. Fear not though, because in this blog post, we'll share three essential tips to help you revitalize your trusty brushes and elevate your beauty game this spring. So, let's dive in and give those neglected brushes the TLC they deserve!

Use the Right Cleaner

The most important thing to remember when cleaning your makeup brushes is to use a specialist makeup brush cleaner. You may have seen posts on social media suggesting you can use things like baby shampoo or washing up liquid. Please don't! Baby shampoo simply isn't equipped to fight some of the nasty bacteria hiding in your filthy brushes, and washing up liquid can lead to damaged bristles because it is made to rid your cooking pans of grease and grime, not clean delicate makeup brush bristles. Our natural Makeup Brush Soaps are the very best way to clean your brushes, naturally

Scrub, Scrub and Scrub Some More

If you are one of the 50% who have never cleaned their brushes, you are going to need to put some elbow grease into it. There could be months, even years of dried on makeup stuck to those bristles, meaning it might not be a quick and easy job.

Make sure your hands are clean and give the soap covered brushes a good rub with your finger tips. Rinse them, and if you can still see dried on product, go again!

Once your brushes are clean and you start cleaning them more regularly, it will become much easier!

Don't Rush the Drying

When your brushes are clean you are going to need to dry them. Don't be tempted to rush the job by using a hair dryer, instead allow them to dry naturally. If the weather is decent you can also let nature help you out and dry them outside. Sponge blenders will take much longer to fully dry, so be prepared to wait

Bonus Tip

If you are planning on cleaning all of your brushes at once, where possible, leave yourself a couple of brushes you can use for any last minute plans requiring you to give yourself a quick glow up. Some bigger brushes can take over 24 hours to dry, so you don't want to leave yourself without any. Once your clean brushes are dry, its time to reward the emergency brushes with their own deep clean!
